Evaluation.

In the end the product meets all determinable requirements, while this does not mean it is a perfect product, it does mean that the product fulfils the design challenge and so the problem the co-designer was facing before. He wanted to have an alternative option for using the complex and too difficult to use file explorer. He used to send emails to himself to put certain notes into the right categories, this was an inefficient way of taking notes and needed to be changed.

With the new wearable along with the new application he can do it much easier and efficiently. With just 3 clicks and under 10 seconds he can open a new note and start typing in the right file. This all because of the simple design of the watch with a low amount of buttons and the app with a low amount of different options and categories.

This was confirmed by the user in co-design session 5, where he had some improvements for the design but also was quite positive and enthusiastic about the designed product and thinks it could actually improve his daily life when it comes to taking notes.

However, it is a shame there is not a real functional prototype, as the co-designer would have liked to see how the design evolved even further and was actually put into use.

Points of Improvement

Having concluded the project to the extent possible within the time limits there are a few points that should be considered if the design is taken further in development.

Firstly, a more functional prototype of the model should be made in order to properly test durability and functionality in conjunction with the application. Next to that, it is also important to have a functioning prototype for seeing which requirements are met in the end. As for now some requirements cannot be properly tested to the extent necessary to know for sure. When this was done further improvements could have been made and an even better final product could have been achieved.

Secondly, this certain wearable does not account for varying different natures of visual impairment. This is because there is a function in the prototype where the configuration of the app could be changed depending on the specific visual impairment a different person has. This feature could change the formatting of the text as well as the placement and combinations of colours. Unfortunately this function is not really looked into and not functional. For this specific user this might not be as important but this could be a really good unique selling point for the product.

Thirdly, for now the older notes are kept within the app, when the application is used for a longer time the amount of notes will start to pile up and could potentially slow down the app and add to the time it takes to load and use the app overall. Therefore a different file explorer should be added to save older notes externally in an organised way to find back more easily.

Fourthly, currently the specific user uses his digital agenda to get reminders and remember when to-dos need to be finished. If a reminder system was implemented in the application this would save him having to use more applications and combine more systems into one central application saving time.

Finally, the final prototype does not implement the keyboard shortcuts as backspace for going back and the enter button for saving a note. Implementing this into the prototype would then make it possible to test it even further.
